Springfield Armory M1903 30-06 Springfield

The Springfield M1903 was the standard US military rifle from 1903 through WWII, chambered in the then-new .30-06 Springfield cartridge developed alongside it. A Mauser-derived design (the US paid royalties to Mauser for patent use), the M1903 earned a reputation for accuracy and was retained as a sniper rifle through the Korean War and Vietnam. Both Springfield Armory (Rock Island) and Rock Island Arsenal produced it.
