Walther P38 Post-War P1

The Walther P1 was the West German Bundeswehr's service pistol from 1957 onward, a post-war evolution of the WWII P38. The primary change was an aluminum alloy frame replacing the steel frame of the WWII original — reducing weight at the cost of accelerated wear on the frame at the barrel lug. The Bundeswehr phased out the P1 beginning in the 1990s when it was replaced by the H&K USP. Large quantities of surplus P1s entered the US collector market.
