History: Adopted by the Swiss Army in 1882 for the Schmidt Ordonnanzrevolver 82. The revolver and cartridge remained Swiss service issue until replaced by the SIG P210 and 9mm Parabellum in the 1940s–1950s. Swiss military revolvers and their ammunition are popular collector items due to the quality of Swiss manufacture. Original ammunition is scarce; custom brass is available from specialty suppliers.
