Winchester Model 1895 30-06 Springfield
The Winchester Model 1895 was John Browning's lever-action design that used a box magazine rather than a tubular magazine, allowing the use of pointed spitzer bullets — the first lever-action Winchester to do so. It was adopted by the US military for the .30-40 Krag and later .30-06, and purchased in enormous quantities by Russia for WWI (chambered in 7.62x54R). Theodore Roosevelt called it his "great medicine rifle" and used one on his 1909 African safari.
